Key facts to look for when researching:

Lifespan - Where & when were they born? Died?
Upbringing - Where did they grow up? What was their life like as a child/young adult? What was the family dynamic like? Were they wealthy or poor?
Adult Life - Did they marry? If so to whom and how many times? Did they have children? What was their family dynamic like as an adult?
Important Events - Did any important events happen to shape their life?
School - Did they go to college or art school? Where?
Internship/Residency - Did they study under any famous artist or at any well known studios/residencies?
Awards - Were they awarded scholarship or any notorieties in school? Did they receive any fellowships, awards, or honors after school?

Inspiration - What inspired their artwork?
Mediums/Methods - Note what mediums they worked with AND any special methods for using those mediums.
Major Pieces - What were their major pieces or collections?
Commissions/Patrons - Who commissioned most of their artwork? Did they have any patrons who funded their works?
Showings - Where did they predominantly show their work? What was the most well known show of theirs?
Influential - What makes this artist an important person in the art world at their time? What did they do or bring to art making that no one else was doing?
