Step 3 - Watch Movie and Research a Significant Figure
Before watching the video, make sure you have a notebook and pencil. You will write down one significant figure from the Harlem Renaissance. You will then do a quick research on that figure. You will also need to include a citation of that work using the Chicago Style Citation (example below). Please note that the plagiarism check will be turned on, so please do not copy and paste someone else's work (even if you change a few words).
You will need to write a 1 paragraph (8-10 sentences) write up about:
the background of that figure (where they were born, where they grew up, what jobs they had, ect)
how did they get into that media (writing, art, music, or theater)
what was their life/lifestyle like during their time of fame
what made them significant to the New Negro Movement / Harlem Renaissance
You will need to include one citation of where you got your information. You will follow the Chicago Style citation that used in this History/Social Studies department. I have laid out below how to cite a website.
Author's Last Name, First Name. "The Title of the Web Article." The Title of the Website. The Date Created or Last Modified. www.webaddressgoeshere.com/you_need_the_entire_site_url.
